Membership


COMENSA’s Member Criteria and Standards of Behaviour describes in detail the competencies required of members at different levels of practice, which assists both members and prospective clients in matching requirements.

Access to the members-only section on the website which contains the opportunity for you to:

Upload your profile in the members’ directory
  • Update your profile
  • Access useful resources and research
  • Access to a forum to discuss issues relating to research and best practice
  • Networking Opportunities through our members; and participation in the coaching and mentoring community, including COMENSA Provincial Chapter Events
  • Preferential prices at selected events which COMENSA endorses
  • Marketing opportunities, including the use of an authorised COMENSA logo on your marketing material; participation in National Expo’s; advertising in the COMENSAnews; publishing articles in COMENSAnews and on the COMENSA website, as well as speaking at COMENSA events.
  • Access to COMENSA’s ground-breaking Policy on Supervision, which reflects global best practice and research in the field of coaching and mentoring supervision.
  • Recommended Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities to learn best practice from leaders in the fields of coaching and mentoring, plus access to resources, articles and research.
  • Access to COMENSA’s ‘Build Your Practice” section which is filled with useful tools to help you do what you do – better and in less time.
  • Access to special deals and discounts exclusive to members, negotiated specially on your behalf.

Application Process

To join COMENSA you must first fill in and submit your details here. You will than receive an invoice for the membership category for which you have applied. Whe you have paid the invoice and submitted proof of payment, you will receive an email with a username and a link to create a password. This will give you access to the system and allow you to create your member profile. After this, every time you want to log on into the system, use the SIGN IN link at the top of the screen.

  1. INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS (Practitioners and Interested Parties);
    This category has a number of sub-categories comprising voting and non-voting members:

    1.1. Non-Voting Members

    1.1.1. Student Members:
    This category is for students registered with a training provider and who are pursuing a programme in coaching/mentoring. Student members are entitled to use the COMENSA logo together with the words “Student” but are not listed in the public section of the members’ directory. There is no joining fee and an annual fee of R369.15 (2018-2019 ) Membership for this category is limited to a maximum of 3 consecutive years.

    1.2. Voting Members

    1.2.1 Members:

    Practising coaches and mentors who will be entitled to use the COMENSA logo who are to use the COMENSA logo together with the words “Member” and are entitled to be listed in the public section of the members’ directory. There is a joining fee of R828.00 and an annual fee of R1550.43 (2018-2019 )

    1.2.2 Registered Coach:

    Practising coaches who earn fees for coaching in the open market, and who is a COMENSA Practitioner member are entitled to apply for to become a COMENSA Registered Coach. Upon successful completion of the registration process, members are entitled to use the COMENSA logo together with the words “Registered Coach” and are entitled to be listed in the public section of the members’ directory. There is a cost of R414.00 (2018-2019 ) for the application.

    1.2.3 Credentialed Coach

    Registered Coaches are eligible to apply for credentialed status. Three levels of credentialing are available:
    • COMENSA Credentialised Practitioner
    • COMENSA Senior Practitioner
    • COMENSA Master Practitioner

  2. ORGANISATIONS

    Organisations may join COMENSA in one or more of the following categories:

    2.1. Coach Training Providers:

    This category serves those organisations that are involved in offering coach training programmes, courses and workshops. The organization nominates an individual to participate in COMENSA affairs and activities. These members are entitled to use the COMENSA logo together the words “Coach Training Provider” and are entitled to be listed in the public section of the members’ directory. There is a joining fee of R828.00 and an annual fee of R2214.90 (2018-2019 )

    2.2. Coaching Company:

    This category serves those organisations that are undertake coaching interventions utilising a team of practitioner coaches, who may be independent and contract to the coaching company for an intervention. The organization nominates an individual to participate in COMENSA affairs and activities. These members are entitled to use the COMENSA logo together the words “Coaching Company” or “Mentoring Company” and are entitled to be listed on the public section of the members’ directory. There is a joining fee of R828.00 and an annual fee of R2214.90 (2018-2019 )

    2.3. Corporate members:

    This category is for those organisations that have an interest in coaching or mentoring and wish to be engaged with COMENSA. The organization nominates an individual to participate in COMENSA affairs and activities. Corporate members are entitled to use the COMENSA logo, together with the designation “Corporate Member” ” and are entitled to be listed on the public section of the members’ directory. There is a joining fee of R828.00 and an annual fee of R2214.90 (2018-2019 )

The Best fit for you

In terms of membership categories and Eligibility criteria, the key question for a prospective applicant for COMENSA membership is: What is your main interest in the coaching and/or mentoring fields?

Are you practising as an individual coach and/or mentor? If so, join as a practitioner member.

Are you currently registered on a coaching and/or mentoring training programme? If so, you may join as a student member if you can provide proof of formal registration as a student of coaching and/or mentoring.

Are you running a company which employs coaches and/or mentors to deliver coaching and/or mentoring services? If so, join as a coaching/mentoring company member and the coaches will join as a member, or as a student member if they are still under training.

Are you providing training for coaches and/or mentors? If so, join as a coach training provider member . Your students will need to join in their own capacities as student members. You, as the Coach Training Provider can be invoiced for all your students and include it in their fee for the year.

Are you running a company which buys coaching and/or mentoring services? If so, join as a corporate member.
