Are you considering a career in coaching or mentoring? Or are you already qualified and looking to propel your professional reputation and career? Does your company embrace internal coaching for their staff’s development, or offer coach and mentor training programmes?
If you answered yes to any of these questions then COMENSA is your essential partner.
WHO SHOULD
BE A MEMBER?
UNDERSTANDING COMENSA MEMBERSHIP
Your first step to becoming part of the COMENSA community is to register. The journey then follows a path into ordinary membership and ultimately to credentialed membership, where you will enjoy professional recognition and an ongoing process of maintaining this reputation.
Membership renewal is annual, while the Credentialed Designation is renewable every three years.
From people who have a general interest in the world of coaching and mentoring to professionals delivering these services or supporting coaches and mentors, COMENSA has a membership option that will suit you.
In a world of increasing competition, professional reputation and endorsement makes all the difference. This is why COMENSA dedicates the bulk of its resources to supporting you to secure your credentialed status.
Having earned your professional designation, COMENSA offers ongoing support to help you maintain records and accumulate CPD points.
In accordance with SAQA requirements, only individuals are eligible for formal NQF recognition at credentialed levels.
If you are presently studying towards your coach or mentor qualification, COMENSA offers a highly discounted Student Member rate. Alternatively your journey begins as an ordinary member with increasing benefits as you grow.
The endorsement as a SAQA registered coach or mentor requires that you credential with COMENSA. Refer to the Professional Journey to understand the process.

To do this we are required by SAQA to ensure that you have the necessary experience and knowledge.

We run regular Credentialing Workshops where our Membership Criteria and Standards of Competence Committee take you through this process in greater detail. Some of our other events can attract CPD points.

Our Credentialed Members are required to accumulate 72 CPD points over the three year period.
Since you learn from every engagement at our free monthly events, attending is one way of accumulating these points. Another way is to participate in one of the many COMENSA approved COMENSA recognised Training Provider Programmes. For insight to the many other ways to earn CPD points, please read our CPD Policy. We provide a facility to log your CPD points in your COMENSA member profile. CPD is mandatory for Credentialed Coaches and Mentors and is recommended for all professionals.
COMENSA requires Credentialed Members to include supervision as part of their practice.
Supervision is a normal part of every helping profession, a category into which coaches and mentors fall, and is a crucial part of supporting professionals in their practice and maintaining professional standards.
Your COMENSA membership is paid annually on the anniversary of your start date. This is applicable to all members and is treated separately to your Credential Application for which you only pay a once off fee for the initial three year period. The cost is per individual in cases where a company is paying on behalf of several members.
All prices include VAT.
